China Hates Me

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” ~Voltaire
I learned earlier today from someone living in China that this site, like so many others, is blocked there.
My first reaction was “Huh? Why?” Then my nastier nature took over and I liked it. After all, is it not something of a feather in one’s cap, a badge of honor, to be regarded as dangerous by a fascist state? I think it is. It means I must be doing (writing) something right!
I can only guess that the reason I’m blocked is earlier references to “democracy“. If so, it demonstrates perfectly the inherent weaknesses of search algorithms. The word “democracy” pops up and it triggers whatever the mechanism is that blocks the site. Not considered, it seems, is the context. In this case the context indicates that I am definitely not a fan of democracy - something that should please the Butchers Of Tiananmen Square no end. But nope; blocked I am.
Ah well, I suppose my potential 60 or 70 million readers in China will have to use some sort of device to get around the system. If you happen to be one of them, you might try this: Chinese Anti-censorship Software
Now, if I could just get blocked in America I’d know I was heaven-bound when I shuffle off this mortal coil.
